How to Extract Pages From a PDF
By PDFOak · Published September 9, 2026 · Updated October 1, 2026
Extraction creates a new PDF from the pages you select. The pages are copied rather than rendered, so their text, images, and quality remain intact.
The original file is left untouched, which makes this the safe way to share only part of a larger document.
How it works
- Choose the source PDF.
- Select pages by clicking them or by typing a range such as 1-3, 7.
- Choose one combined PDF, or one PDF per page.
- Create the file and open it.
- Check that the excerpt still makes sense without the pages you left out.
Extract, delete or split
Extract when you need one new PDF with chosen pages, even if they are not next to each other. Delete when you want most of the document. Split when you want every page, divided at boundaries into several files.
What the excerpt keeps
Text, images, links and comments on the copied pages stay intact, and so do the title, author and subject. Bookmarks, form-field structure and links to pages you left out do not carry over.
Keep the excerpt understandable
A page may depend on a cover sheet, legend, footnote or signature page somewhere else in the source. Include enough context for the recipient, and give the new file a descriptive name.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract pages that are not next to each other?
Yes. Select any pages, such as 2, 5 and 9–12, and create one file from them.
