Rotate PDF
Turn the pages that came out sideways and leave the rest alone.
This tool runs in your browser. Your document is not uploaded. What happens to your files
Shift-click a range · ⌘A all · Esc none · I invert · R rotate · ⌘Z undo · or type a range to skip the grid entirely
How it works
- Choose one PDF.
- Select sideways pages and choose a quarter-turn.
- Apply the rotation and download the corrected copy.
Key benefit
Rotation changes page metadata without recompressing images or text.
Supported files and key limits
Input: PDF. Output: PDF.
It cannot correct small-angle skew or mirrored scans.
When every other page is upside down
If every second page is upside down, select Even pages and rotate them together. The tool only suggests this fix when the pattern is clear.
It usually comes from a duplex scanner that feeds the back of each sheet the other way up. When the document loads, PDFOak looks for scanned even pages sitting at 180° and checks that the odd pages are upright before it offers the fix. A document scanned entirely in landscape is a different problem, so it offers nothing there.
What rotation changes
Rotation changes the page’s orientation setting. It does not redraw the page, compress images, or remove searchable text. Turning a page 90° and then 270° puts you back exactly where you started.
What rotation cannot fix
Skew. A page that went through the scanner crooked is off by a few degrees, and PDF rotation only works in steps of 90. Straightening it means redrawing the page, which is a different job.
Mirroring. A page scanned through its backing sheet is flipped, not rotated. Turning it 180° puts it the right way up with the text still reversed.
Page order. Rotation changes how a page is displayed, not where it sits. If pages are in the wrong sequence, use Reorder PDF.
Choosing the pages
Select pages by clicking them, by typing a range, or with the quick-select chips. The Sideways chip picks every page that already has a rotation applied, which helps when you are fixing a mixed document. Each turn is 90°, and Undo restores the previous state if you overshoot.
