Extract Pages

Pull selected pages into a new PDF.

This tool runs in your browser. Your document is not uploaded. What happens to your files

Shift-click a range · ⌘A all · Esc none · I invert · ⌘Z undo · or type a range to skip the grid entirely

How it works

  1. Choose one PDF.
  2. Select individual pages or ranges.
  3. Create and download a new PDF from that selection.

Key benefit

Non-adjacent pages can become one clean excerpt without rendering them.

Supported files and key limits

Input: PDF. Output: PDF.

An excerpt may lose context such as a cover, legend, or signature page, and bookmarks and form-field structure do not carry over.

One PDF, or one per page

Choose One PDF when the selection is a thing: an exhibit, a chapter, the four pages of a lease someone asked for. The file is named after the range it holds, so Exhibit-C-pp-1-3,7-8.pdf tells you what is inside without opening it. Clear filenames make extracted files easier to identify later.

Choose One PDF per page for a zip of single-page files numbered so they sort correctly. Page 9 of a 340-page document becomes …-p009.pdf, not …-p9.pdf sitting between 89 and 90. It suits an upload form with one field per page, or a review tool that wants pages as separate records. The zip is stored rather than compressed, since PDF pages are already compressed inside.

What carries over

Extracted pages keep their text, images, links and comments, and the new file keeps the original’s title, author and subject. Anything that belongs to the whole document does not carry over: bookmarks, form-field structure, and links that pointed at pages you did not select. A bookmark to page 40 has nowhere to go in a file that holds pages 1 to 3.

Extract builds the new file from the selected pages alone, so it is also the tool to use when you need a smaller file than the original.

Extract, Delete or Split?

Use Extract when you only need a few pages. Use Delete when you want most of the document; it keeps bookmarks and form fields, which Extract cannot. Use Split when you want every page, in separate files. Extracting pages 1–3 discards the rest, while splitting after page 3 keeps both halves.

Choosing pages on a long document

On a 340-page document, clicking thumbnails is slow. Type the range instead: 14-22, 300- selects pages fourteen to twenty-two and three hundred to the end. The quick-select chips pick every scanned page or every text page in one click once the document has been read.
