PNG to PDF

Combine PNG screenshots or scans into one document.

This tool runs in your browser. Your document is not uploaded. What happens to your files

How it works

  1. Choose PNG images.
  2. Arrange them and choose fitted, A4, or Letter pages.
  3. Build and download the PDF.

Key benefit

Transparency and lossless image data are preserved.

Supported files and key limits

Input: PNG images. Output: PDF.

Photo-like PNG files can make very large PDFs because they are not converted to JPEG.

PNG suits screenshots, not photographs

PNG works best for screenshots, diagrams, and sharp text. It keeps every pixel, which also means photo-heavy PNG files can become very large. A folder of a dozen screenshots can outweigh a hundred photographs.

Pages are sized to each image by default, so nothing is cropped or resampled. Choose A4 or Letter if the result has to meet a standard page size.

Put the screenshots in order

Screenshot filenames rarely sort into the order you took them. Drag the images into sequence before building the PDF, and check the result before you send it.

Transparency turns white

A PNG with an alpha channel keeps it inside the PDF. A PDF has nothing behind the image except the page, so transparent areas read as white. That suits a logo or a signature cut out of its background.

It can surprise you with a screenshot that has a soft window shadow. The shadow fades into transparency and becomes a grey smudge against white. If that matters, capture the screenshot without the shadow.

When JPG to PDF is the better tool

If the images are photographs or camera scans, PNG is the wrong container and the file size will show it. There are no large areas of flat colour to compress, so a PNG of a photo is often several times bigger than the same image as a JPEG. Convert the images to JPG and use JPG to PDF, which embeds the compressed data as it is.

If the finished PDF has to fit a size limit, compress it as a separate step with Compress PDF.
