How to Merge PDF Files
By PDFOak · Published September 9, 2026 · Updated October 1, 2026
Add your PDFs, drag them into the order you want, merge, and open the result before you send it.
Merging copies pages into one file. It does not flatten them or lower image quality.
How it works
- Gather the final version of every file.
- Add them all to Merge PDF.
- Drag the file strips into order.
- Merge and download.
- Open the new PDF and scroll through it.
Prepare the files
Remove duplicate drafts, and unlock any protected PDF first using a password you already know. Clear filenames make ordering easier than several files all called scan.pdf.
When it needs more care
For a long or strictly ordered bundle, read the guide to merging in the correct order. If pages are out of order inside a single file, fix that with Reorder PDF before or after merging.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the order after adding the files?
Yes. Drag the strips into place before you start the merge.
